The SOPHIE team from IVE
Shell Eco-marathon is one of the world’s most innovative and challenging student competitions held annually in Europe since 1985, and has expanded to America and Asia since then. Shell Eco-marathon challenges student teams from around the world to design, build and test ultra energy-efficient vehicles. The winners are the teams that go the furthest using the least amount of energy. The event offers a platform for the youth to develop new approaches to smarter mobility and inspire young engineers to push the boundaries of fuel efficiency, giving them a sense of real-life challenges on project management.
2012 marks the third anniversary of Shell Eco-marathon Asia. From July 4-7, 2012, students from across Asia come together at the Sepang International Circuit in Kuala Lumpur to compete in stretching the limits of energy efficiency.
This year, we have the first Hong Kong team from Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education (IVE) Tsing Yi, to join Shell Eco-marathon Asia 2012 in July. This team enters the Prototype category with a solar-powered vehicle that the members designed and constructed. They will compete with a total of 135 student teams from 18 countries all over Asia and Middle East to see who can go the furthest using the same amount of fuel.
