Objective
To give recognition to disabled students who have gone through great hardship to overcome difficulties induced by their disabilities while at the same time encouraging disabled students to realise the importance of education, developing their capabilities and potential in serving the local community, and to promote the sense of inclusion.

Shell/ Island Jaycees Scholarship For the DisabledThe Outstanding Disabled Student Award: |
To be awarded to the ten best disabled students with good academic results and conduct; and demonstrate distinguished performance in school activities and community service. Award winners will be awarded HK$3,000 each. In addition to the scholarship, each recipient will be presented with a certificate, a trophy and a special gift. |
The Best Progress Award: |
To be awarded to five to ten disabled students who have demonstrated significant improvement in academic results, behaviour and other achievements. Award winners will be awarded HK$2,000 each. In addition to the scholarship, each recipient will be presented with a certificate, a trophy and a special gift. |
The Best Integrated Student Award: |
To be awarded to five to ten disabled students who are studying in ordinary schools. They should achieve good academic results and conduct, and have distinguished performance in interpersonal relationship and adaptability to changing environment. Award winners will be awarded HK$2,000 each. In addition to the scholarship, each recipient will be presented with a certificate, a trophy and a special gift. |
| In 2011, the new Caring Integrated Student Award is to be awarded to up to five ordinary students who are studying in mainstream schools. They should actively participate in a variety of activities and demonstrate some success in assisting disabled students to integrate into school, helping to foster an integrated learning experience for all. Award winners will receive HK$2,000 together with a certificate, a trophy and a special gift in recognition of their achievement. |
Eligibility
- a Hong Kong resident;
- aged 11 or above on or before June this year;
- eligible nominees for the Outstanding Disabled Student Award, Best Progress Award and Best Integrated are disabled students currently studying either in special or ordinary primary/ secondary schools.
- eligible nominees for the Caring Integrated Student Award are ordinary students currently studying in ordinary primary/ secondary schools.
Panel of Judges
All nominations will be vetted by the Scholarship Selection Committee which comprises representatives from the organisers, namely Education and Manpower Bureau, Social Welfare Department, Hong Kong Special Schools Council, Island Junior Chamber and Shell Hong Kong Limited.
Nomination Procedure
- Nominations for the Outstanding Disabled Student Award, Best Progress Award and Best Integrated Student Award are to be forwarded submitted by the school principal. Each student can be nominated for one award only.
- Nominations for the Caring Integrated Student Award are forwarded by the public with recommendations from school teachers and social workers.
- Nomination forms must be completed in full with supporting documents.
Deadline: Please kindly return the nomination by mail on or before 10 July (Postmarked). Late nominations will not be accepted.
