International Day for Biological Diversity

Today - 22 May - is International Day for Biological Diversity. This year, the main theme is mainstreaming biodiversity. This day aims to let the public know about the importance of biodiversity.
Hong Kong has an abundant butterfly biodiversity, with more than 260 butterfly species! Since 2004, Shell Hong Kong Limited has been joining hand with Green Power to organize “Shell Nature Watch – Butterfly Explorer” programme and organizing different butterfly conservation activities, with around 10 thousand participation times each year. Start from community promotion, school education and ecological surveys, the programme aims to educate the public about butterfly and thus conserve the butterfly biodiversity in Hong Kong together.
