Shell Hong Kong Limited (“Shell”) was awarded by World Green Organisation the “Green Office Awards” and “Eco-Healthy Workplace” Labels, in recognition of Shell’s dedication to pursuing the goal of green living and creating a healthy working atmosphere for its staff.

Mr Daniel Ng, Chairman of Shell Hong Kong Limited, , said it is a tremendous honour to receive this award. “The idea of creating sustainabile future is deeply rooted in our corporate culture. We do not only carry out and participate in a number of environmental protection projetcs, but also devote to create a green workplace that injects our staff with impetus into their work. The award is like a shot in the arm, meaning our perseverance and contributions on environmental protection and treasuring of staff have been well recognised. In the coming days, we, as Shell, will still endeavour to promote environmental conservation work, aspiring to build a sustainable future in conjunction with our staff and the public,” he said.

Shell has been strongly advocating environmental protection and uphold a sustainable culture in the workplace. While it strives to reduce the impact on earth caused by energy consumption, it also encourages every colleague to take part in being green in office. In addition to reducing the number of lights with the open-plan office, replacing wooden stirrers in the pantries of Kwun Tong and Tsing Yi offices with reusable stainless-steel ones and installing recycle bins to sort garbage. In the hope of joining hands with the public to tackle environmental challenge, Shell is also planning to stop providing plastic straws to customers in its fuel station network, instead, bio-degradable paper straws will be provided when needed. Besides, Shell regularly organises environmental protection volunteer activities for its staff and their family to pursue the goal of green living outside the office, for one thing to raise the staff’s environmental awareness; for another, to bring a positive social impact with actions instead of just words.
The Green Office Awards and Eco-Healthy Workplace Labelling Scheme was initiated by the World Green Organisation (WGO) in 2013. By awarding companies who had made efforts to “green” their offices, WGO encourages large corporations and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to get involved and be inspired, educated and motivated to make the first step to go Green. Participating comapnies are evaluated in 9 stipulated aspects of operations include “Energy Savings”, “ Education and Awareness” and “Green Innovation”
