Hong Kong, November 4, 2022 - Shell Hong Kong Limited ("Shell") announced a strategic partnership with Link Asset Management Limited ("Link") to install by phase more than 500 EV charging points, including over 400 medium chargers and 80 fast chargers, in 34 Link's car parks in the period of Q1 2023 to Q4 2023, bringing a more convenient electric vehicle (EV) charging experience to the public.
Shell actively drives energy transition and strives to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050. In response to the "Hong Kong Roadmap on Popularisation of Electric Vehicles" and "Hong Kong's Climate Action Plan 2050" announced by the Government of HKSAR last year, it has actively launched and expanded its EV charging network to provide different charging solutions for EV in Hong Kong. Following the opening of its first Shell Recharge site in Hong Kong at Green Code, Fanling, becoming the first oil and gas company in Hong Kong to offer EV charging facilities; within a year, Shell has collaborated with different business partners, including real estate developers and automobile brand, to set up Shell Recharge sites successively at 6 car parks and at its Shell Airport (Cargo Terminal) Gas and Charging Station, actively aligning with the Government of HKSAR in implementing relevant policies on popularisation of EV, to help achieve net-zero emissions in Hong Kong through promoting "Green Transport".
Ms Anne Yu, Managing Director of Shell Hong Kong Limited, said "The collaboration between Shell and Link is a significant milestone for Shell Recharge, accelerating the expansion of Shell Recharge's EV charging network in Hong Kong. Link is one of the largest car park owners in Hong Kong, by installing over 500 EV charging points in 34 of Link's car parks, we will be able to bring EV drivers a more convenient EV charging experience as well as to help Shell drive energy transition and help achieve net-zero emissions by 2050."
Nicholas Allen, Chairman of the Board of Link, said, “In response to Chief Executive’s Policy Address which advocates the promotion of green transport, and in concert with the Hong Kong Roadmap on Popularisation of Electric Vehicles, Link is proud to rollout our EV charging programme by offering 3,000 EV charging points across diversified locations in Hong Kong by 2024, making us the largest private provider of public EV charging points in the city. Link is delighted to collaborate with Shell Hong Kong Limited in achieving our goal, and we look forward to working hands-in-hands with Shell in powering Hong Kong into a greener and smarter city.”
Looking ahead, Shell will further develop its network of EV charging services based on the Group’s experience in different countries and regions to provide EV drivers fast, convenient and comfortable charging experiences. Apart from setting up EV charging sites at public car parks, Shell will proactively communicate with the government and different stakeholders to pursue adding charging services at its existing petrol filling stations and extend EV charging business to commercial fleet's private car parks and residential buildings.
