Ronald: The Diversified Potential Development Project - Art Jamming Workshop is one of the activities of 36th Shell/Island JC Scholarship for the Disabled. With the theme "Flying High with Art", we wanted to cultivate the SEN students' art sense and talent.

Charlotte: We hoped that the students can show their diversified potentials and express their mind through art drawing. And they can share their thought bravely to different kind of people.

Joanna: I'm happy to talk with them. They have different idea in their mind with different reactions at the same time. Therefore, it's interesting and happy to talk with them.

On-lam: I have drawn a picture that I was sitting at a beautiful place playing guitar to some people. I think gradient color are beautiful and I can express my mood through art jamming which is very nice.

Hei-tung: I have drawn a Peppa Pig because I am always staying with her. I like drawing. I wish to be a painter in the future.

Screen quickly switches to Pong Yui-wang, Saviour Lutheran School (Special Educational Needs Category: Intellectual Disability, Autism Spectrum Disorders), giving a speech.
Yui-wang: I came for painting. This is the sky and this is cloud.

We go to a close-up of teacher of Chan Ka-lee, Hong Chi Pinehill No.2 School (Special Educational Needs Category: Specific Learning Difficulties, Intellectual Disability, Physical Disability), giving a speech.
Teacher of Ka-lee: There is not many opportunity for Ka-li to get use of different painting materials. Now at here she can see many colors and she was very happy to join the art jamming workshop.

Ronald: This workshop was very meaningful to me. Students with special educational needs can express their messages through their drawings and showing their talent in art.

On 9 September, winners of Diversified Potential Development Project in the 36th Shell / Island JC Scholarship for the Disabled, parents, teachers and volunteers from the Scholarship organisers attended the “Diversified Potential Development Project - Art Jamming Workshop”, which was co-organized by TREATS, a children social integration organization. All of them have had an art jamming session together to enjoy an artistic weekend with fun.
The Shell / Island JC Scholarship for the Disabled organized by Shell Hong Kong Limited, JCI Island, Education Bureau, Hong Kong Special Schools Council and Social Welfare Department, was established in 1981, the International Year of Disabled Persons. It aims to give recognition to students with SEN who have gone through hardship to overcome difficulties and challenges induced by their disabilities striving for personal achievements. To offer encouragement to the students studying in special schools to show recognition to their efforts and to encourage them to further pursue their visions on diversified ability development, “Diversified Potential Development Project” has been established this year. Apart from subsidy for their diversified potential development, awardees of the project have joined the “Diversified Potential Development Project - Art Jamming Workshop” together with their parents, teachers and dedicated volunteers. They have created a series of colorful painting and recycling bags with “Harmony and Inclusion” element. Mutual respect and appreciation have been generated during the game session while students with SEN has got the opportunity to showcase their world to others.

In addition to Art Jamming Workshop, the “36th Shell / Island JC Scholarship for the Disabled Diversified Potential Development Project Art Exhibition”, cooperated with MTR Corporation, is going to launch near Entrance/Exit J of MTR Central Station from 1 October to 31 October. Passengers will be able to enjoy more than 20 diversified artworks to explore the world of a group of students with SEN through their art creations. Besides, the Award Ceremony of the 36th Shell / Island JC Scholarship for the Disabled” will be held in the podium of Millennium City 5, Kwun Tong, on 3 November. Awardees and the public can share funs and joys through the arts booths and the “Diversified Potential Development Project” Art Exhibition.
