Shell Omala – Gear Oils
The longer an oil’s life, the less fluid maintenance your equipment requires, so it can continue to operate without interruption.
Whether you work in manufacturing, metals or mining, to maximise value you need to keep your industrial gearboxes working efficiently for longer.
Equipment manufacturers are designing smaller, more efficient gearboxes, using lighter materials with higher load- and bearing-loading capabilities to deliver higher power and greater durability and reliability. That means a smaller volume of oil working harder in higher temperatures and under higher pressures, with less room for error or tolerance.
To meet the needs of legacy and modern gearboxes, today’s industrial gear oils must offer enhanced extreme pressure (EP) wear protection, oxidation stability, air and water release, and compatibility with advanced materials.*
A range of industrial gear oils to meet your needs The Shell Omala range is designed to meet your needs.
It includes products for a wide range of general and specialist applications designed to:

Extend oil life
by resisting oxidation, shearing and sludge formation

Increase gearbox life
through wear and corrosion protection

Reduce total cost
ownership through enhanced energy- and system-efficiency²

Work in extreme conditions,
including high and low temperatures

² FVA 345 test using a modified FZG test rig with two gearboxes connected back-to-back allowing for the precise measurement of energy losses across a wide range of speeds and loads. Shell Omala S4 GXV Plus 320 was tested against a conventional mineral oil of the same viscosity. An average 3.6% better energy efficiency was recorded based on three runs with each oil.
